Here are questions parents ask before booking a consultation. Don't see yours? Just ask — that's what the free consult is for.
Adoption Friend works with foster, adoptive, kinship, and biological parents who are raising kids who've experienced trauma, big behaviors, or attachment challenges. If you're parenting a child whose body and brain are still learning that they're safe, you're in the right place.
Yes. While TBRI was originally developed for kids with histories of trauma, the underlying principles — connection before correction, understanding the "why" behind behavior, and building a child's sense of felt-safety — work well for any child with big behaviors, regardless of how they came into your family. Many of the same tools that help kids with trauma histories also help biological children who are anxious, dysregulated, or just hard to reach. Greg can tailor coaching to your child's specific needs, whatever their story.
TBRI principles and the coaching approach Greg uses apply across childhood and into the young adult years — from toddlers through adolescents, including young adults who are launching into the world, or those that are failing to launch. Sessions are tailored to your child's age and your family's specific situation.
Not at all. Greg offers in-person coaching for families in the Topeka, KS area, and virtual sessions by Zoom for families anywhere. Some clients do a mix of both depending on what's happening that season.
Pricing depends on the type of support you need — 1-on-1 coaching, group classes, or organizational training all have different structures. The best next step is a free 30-minute consultation, where Greg can answer this directly based on your situation.
Greg is a TBRI Practitioner and parent coach, not a licensed therapist. Coaching focuses on giving you practical strategies, capacity-building, and support as the caregiver — it works alongside therapy, but isn't a replacement for clinical mental health treatment when that's needed.
That's common, and it's okay to start on your own. Many parents begin coaching solo and find that as they shift their own approach, things change at home — sometimes that's what brings a reluctant partner into the process later.
